Sweetwaters Game Reserve & Chimpanzee Sanctuary
Ol Pejeta, a former cattle ranch, is the location for Sweetwaters Game Reserve – a wildlife game sanctuary and home for orphaned chimpanzees. In the face of declining wildlife populations elsewhere and as a means to effectively utilize the land, the recent past has seen increasing emphasis placed upon wildlife conservation. The current Sweetwaters game reserve will be expanded by further approx 50,000 acres in the immediate term. This expansion will allow for increase numbers of black rhino and will incorporate corridors to allow movement of migratory species into and out of the game reserve. Ol Pejeta has two very attractive and comfortable places to stay in the heart of the conservancy – Sweetwaters tented camp and Ol Pejeta house with views of Mt. Kenya. Game drives are available.
