History of the Lawrence Brown family continues...

Max Lawrence-Brown was the eldest of the brothers followed by Stan and Geoff. In 1939 Max married Christina Magdalena Erasmus and they had 3 children - Pam, Howard and Diana. Great Uncle Charley Beatson came out to Kenya to hunt after retiring from the First World War and settled in Gilgil area on his game and cattle ranch. Uncle Charley only had one love and spent most of his later years hunting all over Kenya and Tanzania.Great uncle Charley introduced and taught Max, Jeff and Stan Lawrence-Brown how to hunt and gave them the freedom as young boys to develop their hunting skills. With the World War II breaking out, all three brothers were called up with Max comissioned to the Royal Engineers; Stan to the Royal Artillery and Geoff to the Medical Corp.

After the War Stan made use of army jeeps, tents and personnel carriers started taking senior army officers hunting. This then was the beginning of Lawrence-Brown Safaris. Stan was without question not only one of the best professional hunters in East Africa but went on to train may of the famous hunters that followed, his son Micheal who later immigrated to Australia together with his sister Wendy and her husband Adrian. Micheal became a leading surgeon where he lives with his wife and 3 sons. until hunting was banned in Kenya when the company exchanged their guns for cameras and became an up market camping safari business using all their bush craft and knowledge to start a whole new industry in tourism. Stan passed away in 1979.
