Malindi
Situated south of Lamu Island, Malindi is a highly developed town by the sea with numerous hotels; apartments or houses to rent. Cafes, restaurants, casinos, clubs, historical sites, cyber cafes, falconry, reptile park, horse riding, golf, wind surfing, deep sea fishing, diving and shopping for local handicrafts are just a few of the activities available to visitors. Malindi airport is a short distance from the town. The main road runs southwards and is the main trunk road for trading and tourists to destinations such as Watamu Beach, Kilifi Creek, Mtwapa Creek and Mombasa Island. There are numerous varieties of transport to be hired starting with “tuk tuk” (motorized scooter with seating for two plus the driver in the front); taxis; “matatus” (local 9 seater mini vans) or buses – all depending on where you want to go.
