Lewa Wildlife Conservancy
LWC is located in the Liakipia area below Mt. Kenya. Initially LWC was a private cattle ranch covering some 18,000 ha. In 1993 it was decided to turn part of the ranch into a rhino sanctuary as Kenya’s rhino population was fast dwindling. This is an ongoing project in conjunction with Kenya Wildlife Service. LWC over the years has become a catalyst for developing for income generating projects in conjunction with the local people. Rare Grevy’s zebra, reticulated giraffe, Somali ostrich, white rhino, elephant, lion, leopard, gazelle, and sitatunga antelope are just a few of the species to be seen in LWC. Up market accommodation is available on various sites in the conservancy with splendid views of the savannah plains and mountain ranges. This venue is accessible by road or air from Nairobi. Prices to be quoted on application.

Note: This is an exceptionally popular place where visitors spend 1 or 2 nights to be able to see all that there is to see and then fly/drive to the Mara or other destinations.
